Becca turned to Karl, crushing him with indifference. “Look Karl, be a good sport, will ya?” Becca said. “I’m way out of your league and I think we both know it.”

Karl was floored by her words, literally.

Sassy stepped over Karl and stared at Becca teary-eyed. “So it’s true?” Sassy asked. “You would betray a lifelong friend by carousing with the enemy?“

“Don’t you see, Sassy? You are the enemy,” Becca said. “I have walked on eggshells to keep you happy all these years and for what? When will you be content? When none of us have a chance at happiness?”

“What exactly are you saying Becca?” Sassy said, tears streaming down her face. “I thought we were friends. I thought we always looked out for each other.”

“Call it tough love,” Becca replied. “Hell, you can even call it an intervention. Just do us all a favor and get some help before it’s too late. Otherwise, you’ll end up a bitter old pill that nobody wants to be around.”

“Tell us how you really feel,” Karl said reviving from his catnap.

    Wow.. this is my favorite story in this series. I like how Becca laid it out on the line. She really let Sassy know the truth. Honesty is a difficult tricky thing. Sometimes you don’t want to be honest because it can potentally be painful. Good work with this story.. The face off was realistic and believable. Plus Karl was there for comedic effect. he was like the counter balance.. he gave the story some humor.. Bravo!!

    Quite the climactic scene here, TBS .
    Finally, Sassy gets her comeuppance. (And I know Karl’s been creepy and all, but I do kinda feel sorry for him. Sassy, no, but a little itty bitty bit for our magician).
    I’ll sequel when my head doesn’t feel like an inflated balloon and I’ve regained the use of my lungs.

    I also feel for creepy Karl… I wonder if he’ll bounce right back. I imagine it takes a lot to keep a good magician down.

    Rough scene. I think you did a great job capturing all of the different emotions flying around in this one.
