Confusion and Regret

by wytherwings

Jessica turned around and looked down at the toilet. Suddenly she kneeled down and puked. God She couldn’t believe this, it was really, literally making her sick. She flushed, went outside the stall, and leaned on the sink with her hands, staring at her reflection in the dirty mirror.

It wasn’t the drugs, or the record that bugged her. It was that he had used her. Just to get laid. Was there a single thing he said to her, that wasn’t a lie? That wasn’t a way to get what he wanted?

She didn’t ever want to leave this bathroom. She didn’t want to face the rest of the school. She didn’t want to have to look at everyone, and know that they all knew. And no one had bothered to tell her. No one tried to give her a warning.

No, that’s not true. That’s not fair, Jessica. You know someone did. You know Stephen tried to. And that was true. Whatever happened, she knew Stephen’s intentions were good. He really cared about her.

So why couldn’t she make herself love him back?

Great job illustrating her inner turmoil over being used by one guy and finding the other guy to not be as interesting as she initially thought as a love interest.
