Laine's List (favorite book challenge)

by Laine the Grey

Hmm, I have a lot of books (see “bookshelf challenge” entry), so it’s very hard for me to decide on my favorite book.

I have favorite books of different genres:
[Textbook French Bleu and Blanc (I have yet to reach Rouge)]

But, if I had just one book that I had to read for all eternity, it would be…Peter Pan.

Peter Pan is the embodiment of a child. He reminds us never to grow up, even if we have to.

His cocky attitude and his victorious crow still make me smile, even today.

But back to the genre thing. Romance/Thriller Twilight, hands down. I’m sorry, but Edward Cullen can crush Romeo anyday.

Adventure The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle. Brilliant tale of danger on the high seas.

Drama The Book Thief. Words cannot even describe how amazing this book is.

And all of A Series of Unfortunate Events, of course.

I agree with all of your choices, except for the ones I haven’t read, The Book Thief and The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle. I actually have The Book Thief lined up to read next.
I can’t believe they still have that textbook in French. I had that book, too! :p
(And yes, Edward can crush Romeo any day! :p)

I love Peter Pan! I also forgot about how much I liked the story of “The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle”. Thanks for entering. Great entry.

I love the Freudian nature of Peter Pan, and how depending on what age you read it, Petergoes from being a great adventure hero to a great tragic hero.

But what was Captain Hook’s name before he lost his hand?

Sir Barrie never told us, and even in Capt. Hook, by James Hart, we weren’t told (his father was called “Lord B”. His first name, however, is “James”, often abrieviated “Jas.”

What’s really interesting is that in stage and film productions of Peter Pan, Mr. Darling and Cap’n Hook ar often, if not always, portrayed by the same actor.

Ah ha! Only a true Peter Pan fan knows that! Hooray, I’m not the only one!
