“We should go speak to Carlisle. Maybe he’ll know something about this.”
“Wait, I think I know why I’m like this.”
“Tell me,” I said. I took her hand in mine, marveling at the difference in her temperature. It was just one of the many things I would have to get used to, now that she’d been changed.
“Well you know I’ve always had this thing against blood, right?”
I rolled my eyes. “Yes, I still remember having to carry you to the nurse after you nearly fainted during blood testing. I think Mike Newton’s still mad at me for that.” I smirked, remembering how she’d complained about being in my arms.
“I had a feeling you’d bring that up. Well, I was always able to smell blood, even before the change. Only now it’s gotten stronger, my sense of smell, and so has my aversion to blood. I don’t know if I could do it, if I could feed. If I even can.”
I mulled over her words, remembering Alice’s vision: “She seems to have some type of immunity. She’s impervious to something, but what…? I just can’t see it yet.”
