Constant Creature

by Ana Cristina

Prandi wasn’t a very impulsive girl by nature. No, she was really a very constant creature, happiest when she was following a time table and everything that was expected to happen, happened.

The last 24 hours had changed all that.

24 hours ago, she agreed to help Jameson set up a double-date with Becca. She was to be Paul’s date, knowng that this position was akin to that of a sacrificial lamb, but she was willing to do it for Jameson. All she wanted was for her friend to be happy.

Imagine her surprise when said double-date went up in flames, leaving Becca and Jameson at odds with each other. Prandi couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw Jameson looking at her in the way that he used to look at Becca. She remembered the look on his face when she did that silly dance-off with Sassy. If his mouth had hung any wider, he would’ve swallowed his barstool.

I wasn’t acting like myself last night, she rationalized, as she held the silent phone in her hand. So maybe he doesn’t really like me after all.

Awesomeness! Her rationalization is so reasonable. Poor Prandi, her thought process makes perfect sense, but she’s just torturing herself. There’s so much left to explore with these characters, my symbiotic friend, and I’m loving it! (sidebar: in the third paragraph knowing is missing an ‘i’).

“If his mouth had hung any wider, he would’ve swallowed his barstool.” = Brilliant.
