“I can’t believe we won.” I said. Emily, the boys and I were standing in the hallway outside the courtroom. The adults had gone ahead to take care of some things, leaving the five of us alone with Big Rob.
Emily threw her arms around me.“Lemon juice. It works every time.”
I laughed and hugged her.“You are awesome, thank you.”
Emily stepped back and smiled. Nick studied me. “Wes, are you happy?”
If it’s possible I smiled even bigger.“ I’m very happy.”
I couldn’t remember being any happier.
He leaned over and kissed me on the cheek.“Then welcome to the family.”
Before I had a chance to react to that Kevin grabbed me and twirled me around. “You know, I’ve always wanted a sister.”
Joe punched him playfully in the arm. “Dude, Mom will be upset if you kill her.”
“Right.” Kevin put me down.
Nick and Kevin turned to Joe. “I’m really glad we met, Wes.”
I felt my cheeks heat up.“Thanks Joe. I’m glad I met you too.” I corrected myself. “All of you.”
“Ready to face the press?” Emily asked.
