Perhaps it wasn’t the smartest game to play in a maximum security prison but the guards weren’t hired to be smart. They were hired to stop their sole prisoner from escaping.

“Hey,” one guard shouted to the other across the pit.
” I’ll bet you one weeks pay that I can throw this piece of wire tied to a toothpick to you across the gigantic pit in which lies the most dangerous man on earth who can make lockpicks and weapons out of anything!”

“You’re on Larry!” the second guard yelled.

Needless to say, Larry’s throw did not make it across the pit.
