Death Wants a Holiday

by SKermitgorf

I wish I could take time off and someone else do my job for me. Like a weeks Holiday. Away from suffering and death. I’d avoid say Florida and Arizona, maybe head to some remote island and watch People surf.. no wait surfing is dangerous.
What am I saying, crossing the street can be dangerous. I never get time off.
Death never takes a holiday. But maybe Jeff can. If only there was a loophole somewhere.

I could sit back and relax on a beach. All alone. Not a care in the world. This one or the beyond. My emotions are on overload. I was warned not to get to close to my.. what are they called? Not victims, that’s a harsh word. Clients? No they don’t pay me to take them to their final destination. Subjects? No too royal sounding.
My charges. The people entrusted to me to bring them either safely home, or where ever they go when I take control of their soul. Well control is a subjective word. It’s more like I baby sit their soul until their judged by their Maker.
Like I said, I wish I could take a holiday.

I hope I didn’t get too silly with my sequel, But your mention of Woody Allen inspired my comical side.

I concur with Ms. Grey, that was awesome. And the idea of Death taking a vacation is just made of awesome. I might just take that and run with it, if you don’t mind.

Yes, the inner monologue, contemplating what to call the “charges” was perfect! And great idea about the vacation and emotional toll!

I love it! It’s hilarious observing death muse about vacation, what to call his ‘charges’, what exactly he does. Great stuff!
