And the Angels Wept (Diabolically Villainous Challenge)

by Jenunique

Throughout history, even before written, we were there. The numbers add up. It’s all about the numbers. It’s always about the numbers. And the angels wept.

The Angel of Death the orderly who claims eighty “mercy” killings, Robert Charles Browne says he killed forty- eight, Juan Vallejo Corona murdered twenty- five, Marybeth Tinning poisoned nine of her children and of course, Henry Lee Lucas who confesses 3000 although investigators seem to think a more believable number to be 213. And the angels wept.

But how many are still out there whose names have yet to make the headlines, whose names will never make the headlines. The ones who don’t want to have their fifteen minutes of fame. Those of us who aren’t in it for the glory. Not even for the thrill. There is no “thrill” in death. There is simply life, and then.. nothing. And the angels wept.

That is the reason the numbers go on and on. Once the life is over, we must move on to the next. Only the deranged keep trophies. And the angels wept.

    I didn’t get it until you said serial killer, then it made sense. This serial killer seems lucid, and intelligent, not as unstable as I imagine one to be. Yet I’m sure this is not the case for all. :)

    I think a big mistake a lot of people make, is thinking that “killers” and “murderers,” especially the ones who rake up massive numbers (let’s say, even two, for example ;D) aren’t the obvious lunatics we want them to be. In spite of what movies would have us to believe, inevstigative statistics show the truth is that most serial killers test from borderline to above average intelligence and that very few are found legally “insane” when they go to trial.

    I totally appreciate the story getting into the head of the killer. To write stuff like this, you really have to think like the villain; to be what we are not.
    I think you did a great job showing us that.

    ... After reading the comments, I feel like I have to do this;
    ahem..
    .
    In my defense, I am not a serial killer, unless you count the day we fogged the house and on that day, I_ was almost among the dead. >:D I have played one for the Forensics class at the high school where I work, which made for a very interesting grading period (by the way, during the trial, I was found innocent by two classes and guilty by only one. _Only because of outside class speculation. And declared a mistrial. >;D)

    I love the title of this, and the repetition of that line over and over. This is beyond creepy, this is bone-chilling.

    Repetition does wonders!

    I love the title, and that sentence does drive the point home.

    Very creepy, and a very unique entry into this challenge!

    Awesome!
