Troubling Response

It was Tuesday, and my parents were working, so I had the house to myself. I played rock band from the late morning on into the early afternon, enjoying having the house to myself for the first time in a while. For the past several months, I’d sit on my bed, listen to not-so-good music and cry…

But now that all seemed like a faint memory, as thoughts of Rose sent butterflies fluttering through my chest.
I breathed her name to myself, and felt fireworks explode inside of me. A smile crept along my face as I dropped the guitar to the floor and jumped in the air.

“I love Rose… I love her!”
I began laughing joyfully, and only dropped my smile when it began to ache.

Later, after dinner, I got on AIM as usual, and seeing her screen name sent another wave of butterflies through my chest.
ColdPlayFan08: Hey there! =)
Perfectkiss16: er, hey…
I tilted my head and frowned, troubled by the melancholy response.
ColdPlayFan08: Is something wrong, Rose?

    Oh no!!! Don’t do that to the poor guy. He’s been through enough already. He doesn’t deserve to have his poor heart crushed yet again.
