The moment I heard her voice, it was as if the great pain I had felt never existed. I thought back to her comment that started it all, and how I’d fallen so swiftly for her. Suddenly, distance didn’t seem to matter. Her voice sent ripples through my chest, and I smiled warmly.
“So, your old boyfriend was a faggot, huh?”
I loved expressing the word almost as much as I loved hearing Rose’s voice.
“Ha, yea he was.. but I guess that doesn’t matter now, does it?”
I chuckled, “Girl, my muscles are gonna give out on me if you keep making me smile like that.”
She giggled innocently.
“We wouldn’t want that to happen, would we?”
“No, but I don’t mind the butterflies at all..”
I could tell she was smiling.
“You’re just too sweet.”
“Heh, thank you.”
We talked for a good two hours, and every time there was a pause, the butterflies would flutter in my chest to the sound of her soft breathing. I finally gathered enough courage to tell her something…
“Hey, Rose?”
“Yea, Tyler?”
“I… I love you…”
