Fearless

Aaron was ready. He was born ready. There was nothing that actually could scare him.

Just a month ago, he literally walked through flames, to save the most prized possession of a little girl, a small, scratched, Barbie doll. Aaron was that, take or leave. The sloppy kiss of little May on his cheek was the only reward he needed.

He was pointed as a living examples to his peers, and admired by them because he was fearless. While everyone he knew spent his summer just idling, or spending time with their families, Aaron had explored thoroughly his surroundings, a natural climber, a restless tracker mapping the woods near his town, communing with nature, in his own way.

Today, he was scared.

“Mommy! Please, don’t leave me here, bring me back home!”

Little May, more mature than him, quietly grabbed his tiny hand.

“Aaron, dear”, said his mommy, “_Don’t be scared. It’s your first day at the new school!”

But Aaron, who didn’t cry after setting fire to the carpet, neither lost in the woods, was inconsolable.
