The First Time

Unfortunately, the next day came quickly. I actually contemplated skipping but the truth was I was terrified to talk to Spencer. Well, not really talk but you know.

I was just hoping that he wouldn’t break my mask and make me talk. And I was hoping that I wasn’t dreaming about him wanting me.

My first couple classes were so bored; I couldn’t even bring myself to mention them. And then came lunch. I grabbed an apple and sat down at an empty table in the back of the café. I started looking around for Spencer but then stopped myself.

He always appeared out of no where anyway. “Hey.â€? He sat down across me slowly, almost like he was going to catch me if I tried to run. “Um what’s up?â€? he asked me, smiling. Hoping I would reply.

Nothing much. I’m just in awe that you’re sitting across from me. I just wished I could say that out loud. Instead, I took a bit of my apple to ease the silence.

“That’s the first time I’ve seen you ever open your mouth.â€? He joked and I smiled, despite what I really wanted to say.
