I hadn’t seen him in ten years, but it was like time was frozen when our eyes met. I was gasping for air. What the hell is he doing here? I thought to myself, my eyes wide, and my mouth in an ‘o’ shape.
He walked towards me, with his hand stretched out in front of him. I raised my hand to shake his.
“Hello, Jaiyson.” My voice wavered.
“Hello, Raven.” Just as I remembered. His voice was still like silk.
“How’s…um…your-our-son?”
“He’s good. If you think good is when he tries to kill himself because he thinks his father hates him.”
He looked shocked. “He tried to k-kill himself?”
“Yes, and it’s your fault.” I clapped my hands over my mouth. What was I saying? “Jaisyn, I’m so sorry. Please, forgive me.”
“No, I want you to forgive me. For leaving, not helping you when you got pregnant. I know it was a one night stand, but when you told me you were pregnant I should have helped you. I’m sorry, Raven.” He leaned in and kissed my cheek.
