Autumn and Justin: Opening the Door

I knew this was going nowhere fast. I needed to save this conversation.

“Well, after the research is done we can talk about the visual. Make some plans?” Please agree!

“I guess.” He lifted his head. I think something sparked in his eyes. Surprise? I decided to hang it all out there.

“I’m available to work on it any time, just let me know.”
Please take the bait.

“Alright. I’ll check my work schedule.”

Whew!

We lapsed into an almost comfortable silence. He didn’t walk off and neither did I. There was something about proximity and time, that we were closer to each other longer than we ever had been before, without a desk or people between us. It was a milestone in itself!

The bell rang. We walked silently to our respective lockers. I had a grin on my face that wouldn’t leave.
I floated down the hall to class.

“Later.” I heard beside me. Oh my gosh! This is huge! He spoke to me, without hiding behind the project!

I giggled. “Later!” I chorused. I don’t remember any part of my afternoon classes.
