Craig

The following day, Olivia set out to have lunch with Ashton. He drove her in his red convertible to a small café a couple blocks from school. Once they were seated outside under an umbrella, Olivia talked about her story while Ashton pretended to listen intently. Little did they know, Craig was two tables over, spying of course.

He murmured to himself, “This is crazy. I should just tell her how I feel … and ask her to Homecoming.â€?

“Sir?â€? a waiter asked impatiently. “Are you going to order anything? Because I’m going to have to ask you to leave.â€?

Craig emptied his pockets onto the table: two crumpled dollars and a little bit of change. “Get me a Coke.â€? The waiter nodded and rolled his eyes before walking away.

Once he was gone, Craig tried to listen harder to Olivia’s conversation. They were talking about sports but Ashton kept rolling his eyes secretly. “How could she not notice that?â€? Craig asked out loud and someone tapped his shoulder. He jumped.
