Pay For Your Mistakes

My old boyfriend, Robert, approached me. He pulled my hand away from Spencer’s to embrace me in a painful hug. And it hurt too. He was squeezing me so hard it felt like he could stop my breath. Though my heart had already skipped a couple beats when I first laid eyes on him.

“Grace! I haven’t seen you in forever.â€? Robert gushed. Yes, a couple years now, Robert. The time you were supposed to be spending in jail. So why are you here? Now? I wanted to scream at him but I stayed silent. “Who’s this?â€? He asked.

Spencer answered. “Spencer, hey. And you?â€?

“Robert. Grace’s old boyfriend.â€? Spencer stifled his gasp as Robert said this. He was probably thinking the same thing I was: no way in hell.

“We’re kind of busy now. Why don’t you two catch up later?â€? Spencer said harshly, trying hard to keep his voice under control.

“Sure. Just let me talk to Grace alone for a minute.â€? Spencer walked away reluctantly. “Couldn’t bail me out, huh? Well, your turn to pay for your mistakes.â€? Robert hissed at me.

No, not now.
