Luna Rose

The balloon was big and green. The balloon was what I bought with the rest of my money. And I mean literally, the rest of my money. $2.13 to be exact but the balloon didn’t cost that much. I let the boy selling keep my change. He probably thought I was crazy.

I had sprinted away from my job during the middle of the day. And let me tell you, that job was one of the worst places to work in New York. That job is … never mind. I was talking about my balloon.

After I spent the rest of my money from my bank account, I headed down the nearest alley, running like a crazy woman. And it felt good.

I needed to run. I used to be a track star in high school, you know. I just stopped running after I dropped out of school my senior year. I used to be the smartest girl in our senior class. I used to be the senior class president. I used to be the prettiest girl in all of school. And then I met Vince.

But I’m getting ahead of myself. My name’s Luna Rose and running is what I do. And I’m crazy, don’t ever forget that.
