The Invisible Hand

“I want to kill you — I want to kill you — I want to kill you —
This is the end — This is the end — This is the end —”

An invisible hand guided the stylus of the record player,
moving it around the spinning vinyl LP with precision, piecing
together the frightening words that Sister Laura heard.

“I want to kill you — I want to kill you — I want to kill you —
This is the end — This is the end — This is the end — “

The lights in the room flickered once more as Sister Laura
ran into the nearest room. This room led to a flight of
wooden steps with a large round window at the top. She made
her way up the stairway, pausing for a moment to
catch her breath. When she arrived at the top of the stairs, the
Hi-Fi stereo appeared and the stylus of the needle began to
crackle and hiss anew -this time not words but music – a
haunting wurlitzer organ riff by Doors keyboardist Ray
Manzarak played louder and louder as Sister Laura dropped to
her knees, sobbing and screaming in inconsolable terror.
