but really just a few heartbeats,
before the heartbreak,
and in that one breath that you had to take to say,”Maybe someday”,
you took my soul away,
you broke my heart too far past mend,
and I know that I’ll never be the same again.
The look in your eyes brought tears to mine
and like I took the words from your mind I replied,”don’t worry I’ll be fine.”
