As I sit here writing this particular ficlet, I start noticing several things. The heat from my laptop seems especially strong, and the fan on high with the window cracked open doesn’t help cool the room down.

You see, the air conditioning system just broke down today, right in the middle of a possibly record-breaking heat streak here in Indiana. Room temperature just happens to be external temperature, and we’re debating on whether to sleep in the cool basement or not.
