Ramsey's Last Night

12 Sep – We have made it to the caves. Our hike was uneventful, which I knew would be the case. That thing following us is still out there, watching. I don’t know why it hasn’t shown itself, but part of me is afraid to see it. I feel that it’s not as menacing as whatever is making me hear and see things. Oh, the things I’ve been seeing are horrible. Images of death and blood. I’m not telling Ramsey any of this. He already thinks I’m going mad, I can see it in the way he looks at me. Bastard. If it were up to him, we wouldn’t have come. He has been holding me back from what is my destiny, and would kill me if he got the chance. I had to strike him tonight and show him who was in charge. I’ll need to watch him in the cave, and be prepared to do the worst if it comes to it. I feel it will come to it, actually. And I will be glad to kill him.

Harlan closed the journal, and inhaled deeply, taking in the crisp night air. Meeting the eyes of the creature, he smiled, and lay down to sleep. He knew he was home.
