What You Make It

by Autumn Night

Contemplating life, he slowly took another sip of coffee. He lifted his eyes from the mug and fixated his gaze on the small green plant in front of him. There it sat, completely alone. He began to wonder if it was ever meant to live in the first place.

How could a plant grow from a cold, hard concrete surface? Overcoming all odds simply by existing, but he began to wonder what the point was. Why bother going through the trouble if all that awaits you is dark cement?

Perhaps this plant was alive by some error in life. Dirt and sun and water combined by mistake, causing a poor, unknowing force to spring into effect and bringing to life a beautiful, fresh, green plant with no destiny or purpose in its own world.

Maybe things are created by accident; never meaning to have friendship, laughter or love. It could be that this pretty little plant was meant to live life all by itself…or maybe life is what you make it? Break free of your concrete prison, little plant, and find the love you deserve.

Oh…beautiful. I was wondering where you were going with this, for I didn’t agree until the last line. Good work.
