Emerson Norvale was nervous all week about the upcoming ‘date’ . He checked his hair in the mirror for the umpteenth time. Brushed it, combed it and did it all again.

Chatting with Rachelle online, if that was her real name, was one thing,actually meeting her in person was another thing.

He worried that she would thing he was a dork, or a wuss whatever the word was the kids all used to describe a nerd.

Rachelle Kearney was worried. Had she made a mistake in asking Emerson to meet her?, if that was his real name. Would he be disapointed when he saw her? She had sent her best photo to him in an Email, granted it was her college grad photo, but still at 40 she hadn’t changed that much, had she?

Emerson had gotten to the restaurant early, and spotted Rachelle as she entered. Her short brown hair bounced as she glided across the floor. She wore a little black dress.

“Hi”, Rachelle said timidly.

“I ,er, have to use the restroom, I’ll be right back”, said Emerson as he raced to the restroom.

A little rushed. Having them both not freak out about being told, “I love you” before even “hello” is weird too.

I disagree with Alexa. I think it totally fits, even if it is a slight exaggeration, with how online relationships taken a markedly different course than real ones. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen people “fall in love” while chatting over the course of a few late night hours.

Yeah, i kinda ran out of space and wanted them to be in love since its a romance, not my genre obviously .. Thx i’m glad you got the concept.

Ok i changed the sappy ending, for those who read it before the ending went something like this: “I love you”,Emerson said. “I love you too, i feel asi f ive known you all my life”, said Rachelle. They stared into each others eyes.

Sappy like i said. Ty Thx that you liked the original. I hope this is to your liking.

Yeah, I like this one just a little better ending-wise. Also, I think it is one of your better ficlets (though the Toliver ones were possibly my favorites) and I liked it. Some sentences could maybe use a ”?” or two. Interrogative, statement, imperative, all that boring stuff.

I prefer this ending over the other. I think it’s better to go subtle and realistic with the romance as opposed to pure sugar. But then again, writing romance scares me…
