We were still at the front door, her father and I were still staring into each other’s eyes, daring each other to do something.
“Ok, I get it your not in the mood to talk.” I started to say. “I’ll begin.”
Ashley’s dad looked confused all of the sudden.
“What the hell is your problem with me and why do you torment your daughter?”
Her father was lost for words, he closed the door in my face. This was going to be harder than I thought. I turned and started walking. Ashley stayed.
“You coming?” I asked her.
She was silent.
“I think I’ll stay” She finally said.
“I’m not letting you go back in there.”
“It’s complicated.”
She went in and didn’t come out until it was time for school.
