Haiku Hotel

“I bid you welcome.
a most interesting place
lies in front of you”.

The doorman said this almost tiredly, like he’d done this a hundred times.

I looked up at a sign on the highrise – “Haiku Hotel”

Damn. Guess they weren’t kidding.

“So uh… may i come in?”

The doorman looked at me, and shook his head softly

“You know where you are?
This is the haiku hotel..
now get with the times.”

This is the first and last time I do anything mentioned in the back of a sudoku book..

“Okay, okay..”

I clear my throat.

“I can do it too.
Now please let me come inside?
It is cold out here.”

It’s the middle of winter in NYC and this guy insists on making me follow format..

He smiles, stepping aside as he pushes the door open.

“About bloody time” I mutter.

Followed by the doorman returning to his door-blocking position, as he stares at me.

I sigh.

“If you were smaller
and i was a lot bigger
I’d kick your ass now.”

He grins, moving aside once more. I hurry in before he changes his mind.
This is gonna be fun.
