Land Shark
Ed had a drink with dinner. Everyone at the table did. But he wasn’t drunk. He hadn’t been drunk since college, ever since “the salami incident.” He was a little tired, but not excessively so. In fact, having fallen asleep that afternoon in front of the TV during the Braves game, he was actually fairly fresh for this time of night. He wasn’t currently taking drugs – prescribed or otherwise. The last and only joint he smoked was in high school. He had never touched any serious drugs. He hadn’t recently been in a fight or accident and hit on the head. Ed had no disease that he was aware of. In fact, he’d been jogging every morning for the last week
Which left him slightly puzzled as to why he saw a rather large shark floating down the dark street illuminated from above by some unseen celestial source.
His bewilderment turned to terror as it turned toward him.
He had watched enough Shark Week on the Discovery channel to be pretty sure sharks were incapable of grinning.
Except that this one was.
