She Never Got Along With Her Kindergraten Teacher (4)
Third grade came to Jorden following a summer of going to the library every other day. She started to know the librarians on a first name basis. (“Hello, Jorden.” “Hi, Jean!”)
Jorden didn’t stand out in his class. Maybe, because on the first day she sat on the corner of the playground, reading a book. Or, because when she was asked about her summer, she gave a answer along the lines of, “I spent it in the library, reading.” The other kids then began to realize how smart Jorden actually was. (And hated her for it.)
On Jorden’s fourth actual report card, her teacher commented that “She’s a very smart girl, and is ready to skip a grade. She doesn’t have many friends.”
Those comments changed Jorden’s life.
