A time to be born and a time to die

Blaine could still remember the first day he held Gregory. It had been a miracle, they weren’t supposed to be able to have kids and yet…yet here was the most perfect blue eyed thing Blaine had ever seen, laying wrapped securely in blankets and utterly peaceful.
He soon learned that peaceful was to be a rarity but yet his very amazement at his son had not dulled and if anything only grew as his son got older. They had added a daughter to the family and finally a third, another boy.
Blaine sat on the side of the road, in the sports car he had always dreamed of, wishing for all the moments he hadn’t paid enough attention to. But that’s what you did when someone died wasn’t it? Start realizing everything you had ever taken for granted. It had been many years since Blaine thought about being that young and he felt old suddenly, as if it were he who were dying rather than his mother before him. Everything seemed so fragile. He wiped at his cheeks, though the moisture was long dry. She was gone wasn’t she? Gone.
