Frankie, Chapter 2, Part 1
Chapter 2
The moment I pressed talk, my heart started to pound.
“Hello? May I help you? The voice was soft and kind.
“Um, I – I – I ‘m Jazz-mynâ? I managed to stutter.
“Are you interested in becoming a camp counselor? If so, I’m Nick. I will be your co-counselor.â?
“Yes, I am. When should we get together?â? I was a little more relaxed, now that I heard how kind his voice was when he spoke.
“Excuse me?â? he said with confusion in his voice. Oh no. My heart started to pound faster than my Uncle Steven runs when he sees a Boston Crème Donut from three miles away.
“I mean, when can we meet to go over the things I need to know about being a counselor?â? I wasn’t sure I had said that right.
“Oh,â? he started to explain. “We can meet on Saturday. Monday is the first day of camp. I will bring the rule book and the security papers for you to sign.â?
Perfect. Security papers. Just what I need.
