Ode to the School Day
It’s been an ordinary day
Everything just feels okay
The normal quirks
Ups and downs
Laughter and smiles
Groans and frowns.
School’s a routine
Nothing new
Everyday, you know
What to do.
You curse your locker
it just won’t unlock
You go through the day
without terror or shock.
Gym class you dread,
Art you adore.
Math is always
a never-ceasing bore.
By the end of day,
you’re filled with relief
you’ve made it through
you’ve turned a new leaf.
Now get on the bus,
it’s time to go home.
And every new school day,
you’ll think of this poem.
