In the Psychiatric Unit -- Holly's Notebook
“The voices can’t hurt you here, hon.” That’s what Kerri said, word for word, after our first group session. “It’s alright.”
But she’s wrong. The voices don’t care that we are in a hospital. And they’re telling me that I should stay away from Kerri. She doesn’t believe we’re real, they told me. But you know, Holly. You know we’re real.
I know that I want them to go away. But at the same time, I…I don’t know. They’d been such a constant presence in my life. And yet…I hated what they did to me. Even now.
You know you don’t have to write in this stupid thing, they’re telling me. You’re not the one with problems…we’ll just kill you and get it over with…
I remember they told me just to write down what they say. So that’s what I’m trying to do.
You’re worthless. You don’t even deserve to be alive…
Everyone hates you, you know. Listen to us, you know we’re right…
Don’t pay attention to what those other kids say…they’re even stupider then you…
