Face-to-Face 2

Anne’s sadness turned into annoyance.

“I am your mothe-”

“Oh really? Since when? Were you there when I discovered that a horde of chickens thinks that I’m their queen, were you there when I found out I had a grandfather, and a very mean one at that!”

Anne’s face changed from anger that had been there before to understanding. Becky was surprised. She’d never seen her mother look so rational. Most of the time Anne Livenhill was either drunk or insane. Now she looked like any other person out there, a person Becky had never seen before. Anne took a deep breath and started to talk.

“Honey, let me explain. We are not normal people, we don’t have normal talents. I’ll tell you everything you want to know, after you tell what’s happened in the last two weeks.”

Becky, unnerved at how her mother was so much like her at this moment, couldn’t think of a reason not to tell her mother what had happened in the last two weeks. With that she told the entire story to her mother. Anne’s response was strange.
