Magic's Mark [7]
Ritchie hung his head in guilt. A month in the center had not wiped away the responsibility he felt for his mother’s death. “Ritchie…” Katie ventured, but Ritchie interrupted her.
“No,” he said. “I have a lot to learn and not a lot of time to learn it. There is another one of us here, Maria. She said, she needs my help, but i think this is something i have to do on my own. I don’t know why i just sense it.” Robert nodded in agreement. “I still can’t believe magic exists, or that I’ll be any good at it.” Katie smiled at him fondly.
“Don’t worry. It all works out in the end.” Ritchie smiled weakly at her. A staff member came over.
“Sorry to break up the visit, but visiting hours are almost over…” Robert and Katie stood. Robert pulled Ritchie into a warm embrace. “I’ll come back next week.” Ritchie pulled back to face Katie.
“Can i still call you mine?” Ritchie asked.
“Of course.” Katie beamed and Ritchie stole a kiss from her before she pulled away. “Bye, I’ll see you next week.”
“Can’t wait.”
