On a second read-through of the last several installments, I realized Lucifer had dropped the royal “We” in this one. So I brought it back in, making space by reducing the title of Scary Monsters And Super Creeps to the more common (and abbreviated) Scary Monsters.
This also means the ficlet doesn’t reach nirvana. Sorry, Nick.

I guess it hurts when Lucifer takes back the blood you stole for your tat. Duly noted.

Of course Lucifer would like Bowie. He has style.

This can’t be it! There has to be more! I need to see how it all ends. I would make my own addition, but I can’t write on that level. It would be a disgrace to the story.

Um… interesting twist, Howie, but I agree with Amaster: this better not be the end. Also, just as a minor point, Lucifer had asked Blake to join him in going to meet Simon (his erstwhile friend)… and that kinda got dropped here. Just pointing it out.

I took “erstwhile companion” to be a reference to Lucifer himself, and a bit of poetic phrasing: Blake has been in Lucifer’s company whether he knew it or not. There was no reason to interpret that as being Simon. Sorry.
I’ll be wrapping up the series by Saturday, depending on schedule/creative impulse.
