deus ex machina IV

Meryl gritted her teeth, beating down an urge to pull out her Mono and kill the bastard. But she turned to the control panel, knowing she had no choice, but hating herself all the same. She typed in a series of commands, then pressed the execute button. She suppressed another shiver.
She intentionally kept her gaze from the monitor. She had seen enough death in her time, and didn’t want to see more.
She silently said a prayer, something she would die for if said aloud. “May God protect her,” she thought, “May God protect us all.”
