A Chance to Take
Days that pass, hours that fly
upon their golden wings—
a step forward in a life,
but sentiment that stings.
Circles of life spin round and round
in a never-ending turn,
new days fall like rain drops
but for the past we yearn.
On stormy days, I stare at the sky,
and think, “What causes thunder?”
In January I love the snow—
but Springtime comes to plunder.
School days pass, and drama erupts--
It won’t ever be forgotten…
But really it’s just a sliver of life
a fact that few have gotten.
Around us, things are happening:
Wars are being fought.
In distant lands, there’s trouble
people struggle with a drought.
We can’t clamp onto the past
we have to learn to run and fly!
You’ll never know what you are made of
if you never really try.
Here’s to a brand-new day,
but remember what you had
The memory’s a lifelong tool
never just a fad.
Take a chance, leave the ground
and head straight for the sky—
Maybe life really is short…
So it can never hurt to try.
