She Joins Him On The Star Mile

Old doubt and a girl by your side.
He felt her sit down but he wasn’t brave enough to look. She shifted her weight. He held his breath.
“I thought I would find you here,” she said quietly, breaking the tension. She’s feeding your pride.
He snuck a peek at her. Her dark hair cascaded down her back in large curls; her head downcast.
“I guess I’m just predictable then.” His spirit soured when she laughed and shuffled along the bench towards him. Worlds rise as she lets you come in.
“This is going to sound weird,” she began. “But I have been thinking about you-”
“Don’t bother. It’s been the same for me.”
She smiled, gratitude spilling from her eyes at not having to explain. He watched her, mesmorised by the perfect shine reflected off her limbs. He wanted to tell her how beautiful she was. Look her right in the eye, she’ll listen.
“You are-” The warmth of her hand in his rendered him speechless, but he needn’t say a word.
They sat hand in hand. Not much, but he loved it. It’s better than being alone.
