“This disease, this infection, comes from the Cocytus,” Blake calmly replied. “Every major traitor in history is there: Cain, Judas…”
“Bill Gates,” smirked Simon, finally starting to be able to breathe again.
“But Dante,” Blake continued, “missed one section of the Cocytus, the oldest part, the area that Lucifer stood upon: the place reserved for traitors against nature. And it was the first to thaw when Lucifer left and…”
“Look, I’m a smart girl, but can we cut to the chase here?” Angela asked. “What exactly are you talking about?”
“Lilith,” replied Blake. “Lilith was able to get free.”
“Mythology is not my shtick,” Angela sniped. “Is a little clarity too much to ask?”
Simon’s eyes snapped open. It all makes sense now, he thought. It was all worthwhile afterall. “Lilith,” he said. “The disease-bearing wind spirit, the mother of all monsters.”
