All it took was one moment to change someone’s life, to break a heart, to steal a person’s security right out from under them. In one moment, he had done that to her. Everything she had been certain about was now clouded in uncertainty. Her heart was breaking, and he wanted her to forgive him so easily.

“You had your chance to save us.” She whispered, “The moment you hesitated, and then still decided to move forward…”

“She didn’t mean anything to me.”

“That’s what they all say.”

“But I mean it.” He said firmly.

“You might think so, but if she really didn’t mean anything…this whole thing never would have happened.” She shook her head, “As much as I want to change this, I can’t do that. And nothing you can say can either.”

He continued in vain, “I want to fix this.”

“All it took was one moment to fix this, and you passed it up.” She responded, “That’s all it took.”
