I Don't Want To Hurt You
I shook my head, trying to keep control.
“Why won’t you let me open it?!” Anna demanded, tears streaming down her face.
“Anna-It’s o.k, just open the book.” I said the words I didn’t want to. I couldn’t help it.
Get out of my mind.
Why? They asked. You know you want to help Us.
Get out of my mind!
It’s o.k., James. We’re your friends. We can help you.
GET OUT OF MY MIND !
With all the willpower I could muster I pushed back, hard. It seemed to stun them. I took advantage of this moment to scream,
“ ANNA , ITS THE WRONG BOOK!!!”
Anna’s eyes lit with realization, but I think it may be to late. They were coming into the water. The strain on my mind was too much. They were trying to make me join them. They wanted me to kill Anna.
“Get away.” I whispered, knowing there was nowhere for her to go. “Get away from me, Anna I don’t want to hurt you.”
“James-” she started.
Anna took another look at me, kicked off and began to swim to the bottom of the Lake.
