The Frog Croaked
“Wait!”
He grabbed my arm and pulled me back to my seat. I thought about stabbing him with my keys for a moment but I was too embarrassed already. Give him a few more minutes and I’d call the waiter over. I’d get away then.
“Really, please, I need this date, I need…”
Something in his voice resonated a panic that made me sit and listen. Not well, perhaps, but at least he had my attention now.
“So why? What do you need me for?”
“It’s a long story-” I glared at him “-but I’ll make it really, really short.”
“You have ten minutes, mister,” I pulled a compact out of my purse and began redoing my lipgloss. Geesh, the man was a complete asshat.
“Well, I was there, one day, sitting by the pond minding my own business when this wizard sat beside me.”
“Wizard?”
“Yeah, Wizard. Anyway we chatted for a while then he just took offense at me and cast this spell. Turned me into a man.”
“Spell? Man?”
“Yes, you see, only the kiss of a beautiful woman will turn me back into a frog…”
