Speed Bumps on the Road to the Future
Walking past a fast food joint he felt a slight pang of hunger, but refused to submit to it. It was cold and wet out, but he’d bet a coworker that he’d walk to work more often this winter. Cold, wet, and hungry, he wished he drove today, but he couldn’t give Phil the satisfaction.
Cancer? didn’t she realize she was talking about their son. Maybe she didn’t know how her son felt about the change in the world. He was sure if she knew how Ken felt she’d not have called them a cancer. He wasn’t sure why he hadn’t told her about Ken’s opinion.
After crossing the street he noticed a car approaching, and he could tell that the person behind the wheel wasn’t driving. He could always tell when a car was on auto, they drove to perfectly.
Was it speeding up? Maybe the person behind the wheel was more then a passenger. Her stunned expression and the sudden streak of lipstick across her cheek as the car suddenly changed course directly towards Jack let him know that she was not driving.
I wish I drove today.
