The Blooming Discovery
“Well, the patterns on the ceiling and floor look to be orchids from the Cypripedioidea family. Probably Paphiopedilum argus or Paphiopedilum callosum, it’s hard to tell with the colors faded like they are and the lighting in this room. And on each body there’s a pattern in the shape of an orchid done using the different flesh tones and fur colors and stitching patterns.” Pertwee pointed to one such pattern on the back of the closest body to him and to another on the left bicep of another body beside Detective Miller.
Albert took a step back and glanced around the room, jaw agape. Each body did have the distinctive orchid shape somewhere on it. “Good eye, Pertwee,” he mumbled, then cursed himself under his breath for not noticing it sooner. This was the clue he needed, even though he didn’t understand the significance of it, yet.
“Pertwee, find out everything you can about orchids and brief me tomorrow morning, my office, 9 am, sharp.” Miller pulled out a notepad and started scribbling notes frantically.
