Welcome to the Party
You’re the first new one to come here in a while. Five hundred seventy- four days, three hours and fourteen minutes to be exact. Give or take a few seconds.
Death doesn’t seem to have all the bells and whistles we are promised. There is no light at the end of the tunnel, at least, I didn’t see it. Not that one anyway.
I was plugging in an old heater. One I had fixed the cord on, with my own hands. Of course I trusted it fully. Who could have imagined the fuse in the box would decide to overload at the precise moment I pushed the prongs into the socket.
It was quick. As far as I know. One second I am standing in the bathroom getting ready to warm the room for a shower, the next… BAM !! Dead on the floor by electrocution.
Maybe not a bam, more like a whoosing, a bluish glow and electrical burning smell.
I couldn’t stay to see what happened as my body was loaded onto the ambulance. I just left.
I started wandering and ended up here. St. Thomas’ seems to collect us.
Welcome to the party.
