a beautiful song of misery

her heavy heart moves the light pen, words flowing easily through the loud mind of the silent girl. everything she thinks captured with ink and paper, lines flowing freely with ease. inspired by her own thoughts and fears, the pen continues to move back and forth across the blue lined paper, not stopping to catch its breath now and again. what she writes will sound stupid later, but the sound of the pen scratching on the paper is soothing. the sadness and anger slowly melts away, but leaves an etching that needs more than words to heal. sleep seems inevitable but slumber means thought, and thought means stress. her eyelids begin to droop as she reads what she has written, unaware of what she has been scrawling across the blank pages. her body slumps forward on top of her notebook, resting her head on top of her arms and the pages she has just written. the words whisper in her ear gently as though singing her to soft sleep, her pen keeping beat nearby as it rattles to the floor.

a beautiful song of misery.
