Maury's Diner

When Gavin entered the coffee shop, I knew I was in trouble. He was never on time. I told him to meet me at noon but he could not wait for his Frappuccino, so I was screwed.

“You’re early,” I told him with a disgusted tone in my voice. This guy never listens.

“I had nothing else to do. Why you so mad?” Gavin smiled. I hate that wide grin. In fact, I hate Gavin.

“I can’t meet with you now. Why don’t you go across the street to Maury’s and we can meet over lunch.” God I hope he takes the hint and leaves. I don’t want him here, not now. Gavin take a hint? Not likely. He’s dumb as a rock.

“I hate Maury’s. I can’t eat at that place. I’ll just drink my Frap and read for a while. Just scream at me when you’re ready.”

Before I could say another word, there she was. She walked into the coffee shop holding her overnight bag. Damn it.

“Sure, Gavin. You win. But I’ve got to take a shit.” Maybe if I hurry I can exit the back door and let Gavin and his wife have another fight. I hope she’s a good liar.
