“Hello?” he answered the phone.

“Dad?”

“Hi Mandy.”

“Have you heard from mom? She went out with Kyle two hours ago to go to Wal-Mart and they haven’t come back yet.”

“She’ll be back soon, just have patience.”

“Fine.”

Two more hours later.

“Hello?”

“Dad, she’s still not back yet.”

“Well did you try calling her?”

“Yeah, she won’t answer her phone.”

“Alright, let me try. I’ll call you back.”

37 minutes later.

“Hello?”

“Did you call her, Dad?”

“She didn’t answer. Give her another hour and then I’ll call the police. Alright?”

“Okay.” I say, voice trembling.
