Mom! Leave! ..NOW!
Derick.
“Um, yeah. I was just.. in the neighborhood.. and decided to save your minutes!” Wow. Nice save, loser.
He laughed. “Great, I think I already went over my minutes and texting.”
“Yeah.. so you wanted to ask me something?” I asked, stomach churning.
“Oh, yeah, I almost forgot, I was.. nevermind.” I could tell he was nervous too. Oh lord, save me.
“Hi kids! Derick, who’s this?” his over peppy mom barges through the hallway, smiling as if she had just gotten a face-lift.
Kill me, now.
“Uh, mom, this is Christy..” he said, eyes wide and motioning for her to leave. Thankfully, she noticed.
“Oh! I have some.. important.. work to do. See you guys later!”
“Nice to meet you, Mrs. Pothel.”
He paused for a few hundred years, staring into my eyes, until he said, “Here, why don’t we go up to my room?”
