Anything about Cthulhu makes me laugh, or at least smile, strangely. The reason being that the first I heard of Cthulhu was in an image of Howard Dean in mid-scream that says “Cthulhu Fthagn IA!!

Yeah, what’s even funnier is that people said that Cthulhu should run for president with Dean as his running-mate. Because “Dean’s scream is the only thing that can calm Cthulhu.”
Cthulhu has ran in the last six or so elections (their a bumper stickers, campaign buttons, the whole deal), but he’s never won. I think his slogan of making mankind “free and wild and beyond good and evil, with laws and morals thrown aside and all men shouting and killing and revelling in joy” might have hurt. Also when he promised to “teach them [mankind] new ways to shout and kill and revel and enjoy themselves, and all the earth would flame with a holocaust of ecstasy and freedom” that didn’t help.
Never underestimate Cthulhu’s humorous potential (or his cuteness potential: I bought a Cthulhu plushie for two friends’ newborn spawn several years ago, but that’s another story). Back to Cthulhu’s humorous potential: I suggest you visit and read this (if you haven’t already): http://www.neilgaiman.com/exclusive/shortstories/chulthhustory/ …truly, a classic.
Neil Gaiman is a weird man. Yes, there are a LOT of humorous stories regarding Cthulhu (did anyone else buy the Hastur Pussycat, Kill! Kill! Kill! compilation that came out a couple of years ago? That was some funny stuff…
